About Us

Advance Western Downs is a key initiative of the Western Downs Economic Development Task Group to support economic development, business growth and investment throughout the region.
The primary aim of the task group is to advance the Western Downs as the central hub of the resources boom while protecting prime agricultural land, by implementing key economic development initiatives.
The task group is a strategic partnership between the Western Downs Regional Council, local Chambers of Commerce and key business leaders across the region. The group officially formed in March 2010.
The task group structure connects three key priorities into working groups incorporating a Business Growth; Infrastructure, Transport and Sustainable Environment and an IT, Education and Training task group.
The task groups seek to engage local business and community members with an interest or technical expertise in any of the identified priorities to assist with the facilitation of a number of regional projects.
Some of the initial projects include the regional business excellence awards, a telecommunications strategy and an affordable housing and liveability strategy.
