Local businesses to hear about supplying to major projects
Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines The Honourable Anthony Lynham has released the following media statement:
Businesses from across the Toowoomba region are set to gain firsthand knowledge and key tips on how to take advantage of the opportunities presented by major projects across the state at half-day workshops this month.
Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham said the Supplying to Major Projects and Buyers – Lessons Learnt workshops were designed to help local businesses understand the needs of major project procurement and improve their ability to secure and deliver work for a major proponent.
“They give participants practical advice on how to better understand the procurement needs of a typical major project or buyer,” Dr Lynham said.
“The workshops also cover how to assess your capability and capacity to supply to a major project or buyer and the requirements to successfully deliver to a major project contract.
“It’s important that our local businesses have the ability to access and compete for major projects, which is why the Palaszczuk Government is working to ensure they are provided with these opportunities.
“I would strongly encourage local businesses to attend this workshop.”
The workshops, run by the Department of State Development, will include insight from Nexus Delivery procurement staff and other procurement teams along with successful local suppliers about supplier best practice, including:
- assessing the opportunity
- targeting and winning the work
- delivering the work.
The free workshops will be held in Gatton on 13 December, Toowoomba on 14 December and Dalby on 15 December.
